Liverpool’s American owners have no appetite to sell despite a claim from Elon Musk’s father that the tech billionaire wants to buy the Premier League club.
In an interview with Times Radio, Errol Musk said his son, the world’s richest man, would “like to” purchase Liverpool because the family has links to the city and knew “quite a few of the Beatles”.
In the same interview with Kait Borsay, Musk Sr also predicted that far-right activist Tommy Robinson would one day become the British prime minister.

The Times understands there has been no contact between the Tesla founder, and adviser to Donald Trump, and Liverpool’s American owners. Insiders also insist there is no desire to have any such discussions as a result of a radio interview they claim not to be taking terribly seriously.
Asked directly by Borsay if his son wanted to buy the Premier League leaders, Musk Sr initially said: “I can’t comment on that, they’ll raise the price. I can’t comment on that.”
But when pressed by the radio presenter, who asked if Musk had ever expressed a desire to buy Liverpool, he then replied: “Oh yes, oh yes — but that doesn’t mean he’s buying it, you know.”

Borsay then asked if the club, who are under the ownership of the Fenway Sports Group, were nevertheless “in his sights”.
“He would like to, yes,” Musk Sr said. “Obviously. Anyone would want to. So would I.”
When asked to explain why Liverpool were of interest, he said: “Well, my mother — his grandmother — was born in Liverpool and we have relatives in Liverpool. We were fortunate to know quite a few of the Beatles, because they grew up with us, my family, and so we’re really attached to Liverpool.”
