Police have successfully defused three crude bomb-like objects found on the footpath outside the Ananda Cinema Hall at Dhaka’s Farmgate.
Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station chief Mohammad Golam Azam earlier said they received information about the suspicious objects via the national emergency helpline 999 on Saturday.
According to a statement from Dhaka Metropolitan Police, or DMP, the objects were later taken to the old trade fair ground and neutralised following standard procedures.
The DMP said that upon receiving the alert, a team from Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police reached the scene and secured the area.
Later, the Bomb Disposal Unit of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime, or CTTC, unit was called in.
They transported the three objects to the old trade fair ground and defused them.
The DMP added that legal proceedings regarding the matter are underway.
