In a year when the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have yet to find consistency, one light bulb has lit up in the figure of leg-spinner Digvesh Rathi. Debuting in IPL 2025, the 25-year-old has caught the eye of cricket fans not only for his promising displays with the ball, but also for his now-viral “notebook” celebration.
The Celebration That Caught Social Media
Every time Rathi takes a wicket, he dramatically mimics pulling out a hidden notebook and writing something on it in the air or on the ground. The offbeat move quickly took off, turning into one of the season’s most buzzed-about celebrations.

Until now, Rathi hadn’t explained the reason for the gesture. But during a recent fan Q&A session posted by LSG on their social media handles, Rathi finally gave a glimpse of his thought process. Asked about the significance of the gesture, the leg spinner smiled and explained the reason the “notebook” is his metaphorical method of keeping a tab on accomplishments and jotting down batters, reflecting his analytical nature and competitive spirit.

LSG’s Struggles In IPL 2025
While Rathi’s celebration has become a season highlight, the same can’t be said for the team as a whole. LSG failed to secure a playoff spot in IPL 2025, with their campaign plagued by inconsistency and injuries. Led by Rishabh Pant, the team will look to end their season on a positive note in their final league fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 27 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Despite LSG’s underwhelming season, Rathi’s arrival has been a silver lining and his unique celebration has ensured he’s one name fans won’t forget anytime soon.
