This is the most destructive season produced by an Australian batter in IPL history
We’ve just witnessed one of the greatest and most destructive campaigns in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), and it has come from the bat of Mitchell Marsh — something nobody expected or predicted.
Prior to this season, Marsh had scored 665 runs in 36 innings across 15 years in the IPL, averaging a mere 19.56. Fast forward to the end of the league stages of IPL 2025, Marsh signs off having smoked 627 runs in just 13 innings, breaking several records in the process.
For one, this campaign of Marsh is now the best ever campaign produced by any LSG batter in the team’s history. KL Rahul’s 616 runs in 2022, for the longest time, remained untouched and looked unbeatable as well. But that record has been demolished by a very unlikely candidate in Marsh.

520 – KL Rahul in 2024
511 – Nicholas Pooran in 2025
508 – Quinton de Kock in 2022
But not just that, this is now already the most destructive season produced by an Australian batter in IPL history. Yes, it’s more destructive than any of David Warner’s seasons, and even Glenn Maxwell’s 2014.
Marsh signs off from IPL 2025 having pounded 37 sixes. It’s the most by an Australian batter in a single season of the competition.

For the first 17 years of the IPL, the world spoke about Shaun Marsh’s 2008. Well, the mantle has been taken over by Shaun’s little brother now. For, this Mitch Marsh campaign will be spoken of, and remembered, for a very long time.
